John Thornton
Director of Pro Development
John created Jockbiz as a proactive way to reach out to professional athletes with ways to create a game plan for off-the-field success. Through his personal and professional experience, John helps athletes present themslves to the public in a positive way. His focus is on helping athletes develop their own valuable brand through involvement in the community and by being an asset to the team.
Following an All-American college career at West Virginia University, John was drafted in the second round by the Tennessee Titans in 1999. His rookie season resulted in a trip to Super Bowl XXXIV. That year, John was also selected to Pro Football Weekly's All-Rookie team.
As a free agent in 2003, John signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. His professionalism, positive work ethic, and dedication to the game- both on and off- the-field earned John the 2005 Cincinnati Bengals Good Guy Award, an honor from the Cincinnati Chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America. A further reflection on his leadership was being named Team co-captain along with quarterback Carson Palmer for the 2007 season.
John has always looked at life beyond his football career. His interests off the field were focused on building a stable, reliable, and successful future for himself and his family. While with the Titans John met one of Nashville's top sports radio hosts, and soon became a regular on local sports talk radio. His personality and popularity soon led to John getting his own radio shows.
John continued to follow his entrepreneurial spirit, launching Get Better Sports in 2006. Its focus is on training high school and aspiring professional athletes in their sport and at their position, and teaching the importance of hard work and dedication that will serve them for a lifetime.
John also launched J2T Interactive, an interactive solutions company that brings to the table a hand-picked team of professionals for your website, print or interactive initiatives. Jockbiz was launched in 2008, as a way to reach out to other professional athletes helping them to showcase not just their on field success, but also their community involvement.
John's leadership shows through his involvement in many charitable events during the year, supporting other professional athletes and their causes across the country. John's personal community involvement is focused on autism. Now in its seventh year, John hosts Bowling for Autism, part fundraiser, part opportunity for autistic kids to do something that they rarely get to do.
